Trending . . . clever storage

Rathfarnham-based Jane Higgins Home Design (087-6622356 janehigginshomedesign.com) specialises in smart built-in furniture for bedrooms, kitchens, livingrooms and studies that solve storage problems.

This three-door under-the-stairs unit works well in a small house where the stairs lead directly into the sittingroom. Rather than being built flush with the original wall, the unit is brought out into the room, following the natural line of the stair treads, drawing attention to them by creating small shelves for decorative items to make a feature out of the space. This lacquered-finished build has a white melamine interior and is available in a choice of colours. It costs in the region of €1,400 including delivery and fitting within the greater Dublin area. Higgins is offering Irish Times readers 10 per cent off it or any other piece of built-in furniture, including kitchens, on orders placed before April 15th.
