Entertaining tips at The Irish Times Home & Design Theatre

Advice from designers and estate agents at the Permanent TSB Ideal Home Show at the RDS

Presenter of the popular Cowboy Builders – a cautionary home renovation TV series – and former glamour model Melinda Messenger will feature as a guest at The Irish Times Home & Design Theatre at the Permanent TSB Ideal Home Show at the RDS this weekend.

Throughout the three-day event, which starts on Friday, The Irish Times is hosting a series of open forums with interiors and design specialists.

Messenger will share details of her personal home style with Sybil Mulcahy on Friday, while on Saturday she'll be chatting to Conor Pope about the notorious scourge that is dodgy builders. Houzz, the internet home design portal will be celebrating its newly localised site, houzz.ie, at the show and Alanna Gallagher will talk to managing director Andrew Small.

Gemma Tipton will have tips on hanging art; Karen O'Rourke, Airbnb superhost, will discuss with Joan Scales how to make a home a welcome space for visitors; Orla Kelly will discuss the transformational power of colour; chef Andrew Rudd will have tips for kitchens, and Emma Cullinan will discuss how to work with an architect with Max O'Flaherty and Michelle Fagan.

Other free talks will cover garden ideas, getting on the property ladder, updating living spaces, first impressions for selling your home, furnishing a man cave and storing in style.
