If you cast your mind back to Dublin’s giant hare invasion of 2006, you might well remember the late sculptor Barry Flanagan’s lofty bronze statues occupying O’Connell Street. According to Chinese mythology, the hare is a sign of immortality and appropriately, so is the sculptor in his work. Sotheby’s will be hosting its annual selling exhibition of monumental sculpture Beyond Limits at Chatsworth House in Derbyshire on September 7th, which features Flanagan’s towering bronze beauties playfully situated throughout the stately gardens.
