Shooting Inis Meain

Chris Rodmell first visited Inis Meain as a film student shooting his graduate work in 1973. In between takes he documented island life; exteriors only because the island didn’t have electricity or running water.

Aran Islander Dr Deirdre Ní Chonghaile, of the Keough-Naughton Institute for Irish Studies in Notre Dame Indiana, came across the work and suggested he exhibit it. The works echo the painterly qualities of Paul Henry and can be viewed on the island at the Inis Meain Knitting Company. Limited edition prints are available from chrisrodmell@aol. com. Prices start from €115.
