What it means:Everyone's got followers on Twitter, but how many of them can you say are truly interested in your every tweet, and patiently awaiting your next 140-character nugget of wisdom? These days, having mere followers on Twitter is not enough – every self-respecting social networker needs their "tweeps" – their own devoted Twitter tribe, ready to do their bidding at a click. Your tweeps never let you down – when you get dissed by your enemies, they'll be the first to organise a twitchfork mob, and when your celebrity partner dumps you, they'll be there with messages of comfort and reassurance.

Where it comes from:Now that every celeb is on Twitter, they understand the importance of giving a big shout-out to their tweeps. After all, these are the people who'll be downloading their latest single, or buying their latest boxset.

Keep your tweeps happy, and you can really rule the Twitterverse. Just be careful when typing in your message – you don’t want to call them “twerps”, unless you want to end up with the world’s biggest bashtag.
