Women onlyWalk Weekender has organised a walking break for women in the Aravis Mountains, in the French Alps. It could be ideal for a few days with friends, daughters or even on your own – all levels of fitness and walking abilities are catered for. Summer Alpine meetMountaineering Ireland is holding its summer meet in Ailefroide, in the Dauphiné Alps in France, from July 3rd to 18th. There'll be courses in rock climbing and rescue, among other skills – you'll need to be fit to get the most from them. Prices range from €30 for a half-day workshop to €900 for the five-day course in advanced alpine mountaineering. With the exception of ropes, you'll need to supply your own equipment. Moth trappingAs part of its BioBlitz for National Biodiversity Week, Wicklow Mountains National Park is offering you a chance to discover the "amazing and often colourful world" of Ireland's moths with expert Angus Tyner. You can join national-park staff as they empty a moth trap and identify and release the moths. Meet at the education centre at Glendalough, in Co Wicklow, at 9.30am on Saturday, May 22nd.
