Comeragh crossing

Dungarvan Hillwalking Club has organised a 30-40km hike from Clonmel to Dungarvan over the Comeragh and Monavullagh Mountains on July 3rd. There will be three stages to the walk and it will be possible to join in at the second or third stage. Experience and fitness is required. The Galtee Challenge/ Crossing will take place on Sunday, June 27th. Registration costing €10 is at Cahir Castle car park at 8am. Buses will take participants to Anglesboro for the start of walk. The distance is 31km and the walk is open to all with a good level of fitness. Seats on the bus must be booked a week in advance with Ryan 087-9704404 or Owen Ryan 087-2273562. Seafood festival

Achill Tourism has organised Féile Bia na Mara to run from July 15th-18th. The festival includes fresh seafood, outdoor activities and information on the maritime culture of Achill. The VIP chef this year is Jenny Bristow,who will be attending the festival’s gala banquet and doing a cookery demonstration on Saturday. There will be also be a sandcastle competition for the children. Annette O’Leary will lead a coastal walk and give advice about the uses of seaweed.
