Three Irish attractions in Lonely Planet’s adventures book

Activities in Mayo, Sligo and Monaghan make it into Lonely Planet’s newest guide

Three attractions in counties Mayo, Monaghan and Sligo have been included in the Lonely Planets' newest guide book.

The Lonely Planet’s 1,000 Ultimate Adventures ranks climbing Croagh Patrick in Mayo as its ultimate pilgrimage, while surfing in Mullaghmore Head in Sligo and horse-riding on the Castle Leslie estate in Monaghan have been included in its top-ten list of adventure activities and destinations.

Last week, it was announced that Adventure Travel Trade Association’s Adventure Travel World Summit will be held in Killarney, Co Kerry next year.

The Government along with tourism agencies have been working to develop Ireland as a strong adventure tourism venue in recent years, according to Minister of State for Tourism and Sport Michael Ring.
