Dingle Gin scoops top prize at World Gin Awards in London

Co Kerry spirit wins out after 400 products from around world blind taste tested by experts

The Co Kerry produced Dingle Gin has scooped the top prize at the World Gin Awards in London.

More than 400 gins from all over the globe were blind tasted by industry experts in recent weeks and a shortlist of 20 was drawn up, with Dingle Original Gin subsequentlly declared the best of the best.

“This is an incredibly proud moment for our independent, family owned gin,” said Elliot Hughes, a partner in the company.

“We launched the distillery in 2012 with the vision to create the best artisan spirits in the world. Winning this award proves that we must be doing something right.”

Dingle Gin also picked up the award for World’s Best in the London Dry Gin category.

The spirit is produced in the Dingle Whiskey Distillery and was conceived by Liam LaHart, the late Oliver Hughes and Peter Mosley.

The gin market has exploded in recent years and Ireland is no exception with more than 50 brands made by 20 producers coming on stream.
