The company's shares lost 87 per cent of their value last year, and in December C&W was relegated from the blue-chip FTSE 100 Index.

Meanwhile in Castlefinn, Co Donegal, 60 employees at Nena Models were issued with protective notice this afternoon.

Workers were told that due to a decrease in orders, lay offs were to be expected.
