Premier Oil is to cancel its secondary listing on the Irish Stock Exchange following a restructuring that will create a new holding company for the group.

The new company will be listed on the London Stock Exchange.

The British-based oil and gas exploration company began trading on the Irish Stock Exchange in 1996 in a move that baffled analysts at the time.

The company has exploration interest in Britain, the Far East and Pakistan.
